we are contributing to the Growing movement for food justice and community wellness through garden-based education.

Land to Learn’s work, rooted in gardening, food, community, health, and ecology, creates learning opportunities for youth that empower them with resources and skills to develop lifelong healthful habits and an appreciation for the natural world. Our programs utilize gardens to connect children and teens to land, food, one another, and themselves.

At Land to Learn, we believe every child deserves a joyful, hands-on connection to the natural world and their own well-being. Our curriculum cultivates a deepened awareness of self, the world and its inhabitants, and the interconnectedness of all beings.

Experiential, place-based, democratic philosophies and practices inform our work. We strive to center social justice and environmental consciousness in the learning communities we co-create with students and participants.

Our Programs:

SproutEd brings garden-based education to nearly 3,000 K-3 students across 10 (soon to be 11!) public elementary schools in Newburgh, Kingston, and Beacon, in NY’s Hudson Valley region.

RadicleRoots for Teens employs and trains youth (aged 14 - 19) to work throughout the summer, maintaining school gardens and leading activities for younger kids.

ToolShed offers training and consulting services to schools and childcare centers looking to develop their own garden-based learning program.

With Land to Learn Summer Camp in Beacon, Kingston SproutEd Summer School, and Garden Chefs at the Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh we serve our communities during summer recess.

We also work with school food to promote fresh vegetables in cafeterias, and for the 2025-2026 school year we will be implementing an after-school food education program.

Your donations ensure we can continue offering integrated, experiential lessons at no cost to nearly 3,000 Hudson Valley youth & their families.
